Coreopsis Yellows, Cosmos Mauves, Family Tree

9x11 inches, recovered cotton steamed and printed with coreopsis and cosmos mounted on watercolor paper, yellow thread; As I work I feel connected to my mother and grandmother who were also gardeners and sewists. I have also nurtured unique connections with my children and grandchildren by sharing my art practices. Now when I see a flowering plant, I think about the color it might give my textiles and, if it’s in a home garden, the family history it must hold.
