The Full Story

Diana opened Plein-Air Art Academy years ago in a different space, devoted to

the training of Boston students of all ages to connect with their surroundings. The academy was boutique art studio for children and adults serious about art, and in 2016 was awarded Boston's Best Art School by Boston Magazine. Over the summer of 2023, Diana moved her art school into the new space she had acquired, but this time with a few additions to the mission. Plein-Air continues to host its award-winning classes in the back of the space, while the front of the space is now an operational gallery for mid-career female artists from the Boston area. 

This transition has grown the possibilities for students to connect to their surroundings and expand their technical and historical art knowledge. Classes alternate between indoor and outdoor sessions, weather permitting, and in-depth studio technique studies.

For kids, the school offers three, 3-month semesters during the school year: September to December, January-March, April-June. Each semester focuses on a different theme covering art history, well-known artists, technical theory, and creative process development. In the summer, the school offers day camps.
